It’s hip to be square

We are very proud to introduce our latest campaign for BHP Accountants, turning the stereotype of the conservative chartered accountant on its head.

The campaign was created for BHP, one of the north’s largest independent chartered accountants, to coincide with the launch of the company’s new website. The ‘Reassuringly Straight-laced since 1867’ platform celebrates the down to earth people at the company who have provided informed and accessible advice for more than 150 years.

In a (surprisingly for an accounting firm) pastel palette, the narrative uses a series of punchy lines that embody the spirit of BHP, on the premise that ‘everyone wants a little rock ‘n’ roll in their lives – but not when they’re sitting down to talk about their accounts’. In other words, rebels might make great records but clever and reliable people make great accountants.

The campaign will run throughout Spring in regional print media but elements are being incorporated into BHP’s website and into recruitment campaigns for the company’s talent attraction programme.

Jane our Account Director said: “Armed with the insight that brands who fly the flag for real, raw and candid conversations are the ones who make the deepest connections with customers, we decided to embrace the stereotype that accountants are often seen as boring and turn this on its head to show that BHP is a company with a refreshing sense of humour and personality.”
