It's quicker by ale

The Challenge

To create a beer brand that shone in the drinking circles of Harrogate, and was embraced by locals, bars and restaurants in the region. The Harrogate Brewing Co. was a new microbrewery based in the famous spa town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. But with a new brewery opening every other day in the UK, we knew we needed to achieve standout in this busy market.

The Approach

We took all the traditional cues of the brewery's Harrogate provenance, and found inspiration in the wonderful art deco rail travel imagery, which is so prevalent in Harrogate's iconic architecture. The brandmark itself is aligned with the traditional railway destination signs and language, inspired by the great rail posters of the 1930's - 'it's quicker by ale'. The result is a brand with real personality, yet stylish in its execution.

The Results

Shortly after launch, HBCo were listed in Jamie's Italian in Harrogate, plus scooping a packaging award at the prestigious Roses design awards in Manchester. 2015 saw even more fantastic results, picking up a bronze at the York Beer Festival and a silver at the Peterborough Beer Festival.
